Description of conference:
The Rooted in Dreams, Rising Together Conference is a one-day college access experience hosted by the First Generation Student Organization (FGSO) at Colorado State University. Designed for first-generation high school students exploring higher education and post-secondary pathways, this conference creates an empowering space where students can envision their future with clarity and confidence.
Held on the campus of Colorado State University in the Lory Student Center Theatre, the conference brings students directly into a university environment for a meaningful, engaging, and inspiring day centered on access, belonging, and opportunity.
What Students Will Experience?
Participants will:
- Attend interactive workshops focused on college preparation, leadership, and personal growth
- Connect with current CSU students and first-generation alumni
- Participate in a guided campus tour
- Enjoy lunch in a CSU dining hall
- Build community with peers from across the region
- Gain tools and resources to confidently pursue post-secondary education
This conference is not just about applying to college, it’s about seeing yourself there, breaking barriers, and taking the first real step toward your future.
A Collaborative Effort:
The Rooted in Dreams, Rising Together Conference is a one-day college access experience hosted by the First Generation Student Organization (FGSO) at Colorado State University, made possible through a network of dedicated collaborators. In partnership with the Access Center, and with the support of local school districts, inspiring speakers, and skilled workshop facilitators, this conference provides first-generation high school students with the tools and guidance to explore higher education and envision their futures with confidence.
By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, FGSO and our partners create an inclusive space that celebrates students’ identities, builds confidence, and supports academic success,demonstrating the power of collaboration in empowering the next generation of college-goers.
